‘and then there is the Magician:

the holy man, the witch doctor, the shaman’

- Robert Moore, King Warrior Magician Lover

The Ancient Greeks called him ‘Magos’, the Ancient Persians knew him as ‘Magoi’, the Romans called him ‘Magus’ - The medicine Man and Guide to Soul, one and the same man in most indigenous cultures, with the to dance with the Veil between the Worlds. The Earliest Portal worker we have known, the Magus was the man villagers would consult for questions of physical health and spiritual quest alike, for he bore the knowledge of secret wisdom and the ways of the Ancestors. Real Initiatory Elder, Magus could see into the depths of both Nature and human beings.

A guide to Soul-rooted Visionary action

If our modern societies have largely forgotten the role and place of the Village’s Magus, we remain, as human beings, endowed with the Magus’s energy and ways, if we choose to re-member it.

The principle of correspondence: ‘As above, so below, As within, so without’. This Alchemical law is the Universe Magus invites us to live in. With a consciousness that all in the Cosmos - plant, mineral, animal, human, more-than-human, visible and invisble - is perfectly balanced and in constant reciprocal conversation, Magus’ magnificent power of creation and healing becomes possible. Orienting oneself within the Four Sacred Directions, the Cycles of the Moon and the Sun, the rhythm of the Tides and the Seasons, and realigning ourselves with them within and without is the way of the Magus.

To guide and be guided: Magician, Wise Man, Magus is the guide we long for when shaken by the Mysteries of Life. He may be an actual guide presenting himself on our path, able to mentor and hold us, or he may be our own inner Guide. But his ability to guide only stems from his surrender to being guided himself. Magus knows that Earth speaks to us at all times - he knows to read her signs in the stars, the leaves and our dreams.

The power of inspired Manifestation: when in awareness, presence and conversation with the Whole, we create. The power of manifesting our, or the Earth’s, fullest potential is the definition of Magic. When what we create is rooted in sacred revelation and harmony with all lives, we are Magicians - and the whole Universe starts working with us. Following the way of the Magus is therefore re-membering ourselves as Magicians: our gifts and responsibilities. This is true visionary action - soul-rooted action.

Via Magus - Following the Way of the Magus - is therefore the journey of tracking portals and places where the worlds touch, courting owls and dragons, following the movements of the stars and falling into caves where we encounter the waters of Soul, re-member our unique and wild calling, reclaim our wholeness and power and re-emerge as Visionary Soul-rooted Adults.
